our first meeting, we have a lot to talk about

your first appointment is the occasion to prepare a complete dental health assessment

The first appointment is an opportunity to get to know each other better. During this first visit, we show you around the clinic and you will meet the team.

We answer all your questions and also listen to your expectations. Finally, we perform a comprehensive oral health assessment that includes:

  • evaluation of your mouth, gums and teeth with an intra-oral camera (macro photography),
  • early and non-invasive detection of caries by laser,
  • screening for periodontal disease and cancer,
  • all the digital radios (less radiation) needed,
  • the summary of the examination, done with the dentist, to establish your health status and take into account your needs,
  • a detailed treatment plan (the "game plan") to allow you to make an informed choice about your treatment.

At your next visit, whether it is for a regular dental hygiene cleaning or dental treatment, we will update this assessment and your treatment plan, if necessary.

preventive dentistry

your regular check-up and cleaning: do not miss it!

Prevention encompasses all the activities of our dental hygiene department. Your periodic meeting with our hygienists offers you more than a simple teeth cleaning: it is an opportunity to periodically assess the evolution of your dental health and your health in general, because the two are linked.

Preventive scaling reduces the risk of periodontal disease, which has a proven negative effect on your overall health.

During this regular appointment, we also perform an early detection of oral problems, including bruxism (grinding of the teeth at night).

We routinely use an intra-oral camera and a laser cavity detection device to examine your teeth in detail during your cleaning exam. With these non-invasive and very precise technologies, we can look at your mouth "under the magnifying glass" and make better diagnoses.

The screen placed in front of your chair in our treatment rooms allows you to see the condition of your teeth and gums and to make an informed decision about the treatments we offer.

operative
dentistry

dental fillings

dental fillings (the white ones, we don't do grey)

Operative dentistry (O.D.) covers the removal of cavities and the insertion of a filling. In the old days, those were commonly "grey fillings" or "amalgams"; we don't do that. In fact, we never have: we stick to composite: here is why.

When decay affects a tooth, but the tooth remains generally healthy, fillings are a way to replace the decay-affected portion while maintaining the strength of your natural tooth.

The treatment consists of removing the decayed portion of the tooth and then bonding a material shaped to match the shape of the tooth and adjacent teeth.

This type of restoration restores the full functionality and appearance of the diseased tooth. Our dentists only use composite materials that are the same color as the tooth. They have the advantage of not containing mercury, unlike amalgam fillings (metal-colored fillings).

These materials allow for more targeted interventions, with less material removal than with amalgam restorations, thus preserving the natural strength of your teeth. The result is also much more aesthetic and natural.

Inlays, crowns
and bridges

dental crowns and bridges

your fixed prosthesis in one appointment

A missing or broken tooth causes many problems. A crown (on an implant or on your natural tooth), a bridge (which replaces one or more teeth by leaning on adjacent teeth) or an inlay (to replace the missing tooth part) are the main treatments that can be considered in these situations.

These treatments consist in covering your tooth completely (crown) or partially (incrustation) or replacing it (bridge or implant) with a ceramic restoration that perfectly matches the contour of the adjacent and opposite teeth and your mouth.

In most cases, we now produce and install this type of prosthesis in a single appointment, thanks to CAD/CAM E4D technology that allows us to manufacture these restorations on site in four steps:

  • "mapping" the area to be treated with the CEREC Primescan camera,
  • drawing of the prosthesis and validation of its positioning with CEREC's Primescan graphic design software,
  • cutting the restauration in a ceramic block using the CEREC Primemill manufacturing chamber,
  • glazing and heating the restoration in a special oven to ensure its hardness and natural appearance.

dental
implants

dental implants

replacing those teeth that let you down

When your natural teeth fail you, dental implants help to maintain the functional balance of your mouth, your oral health and your overall health.

In addition to the aesthetic aspect, the loss of one or more teeth can indeed lead to unexpected problems, such as:

  • bone loss, and risk of loss of adjacent teeth over time,
  • movement of adjacent and antagonistic teeth,
  • stiffening of jaws, joint pain and headaches,
  • difficulty chewing,
  • loss of self-confidence (smile)...

The placement of implants is an appropriate solution in many cases. It begins with a precise analysis of the area to be treated. Digital X-rays and scans help determine the position of the implants in relation to the adjacent and opposing teeth, bone, gums, etc. An artificial root is then placed into the bone. Once this step is completed, a period of several months follows during which the implant and the jawbone are allowed to solidify their bond.

The abutment, which will be used to attach the crown at the end of the treatment, can be installed at the time of the implant placement or after these few months, depending on the case. Then, after the implant is well in place, a crown is manufactured and installed on the abutment in one appointment to give you back a natural smile and a fully functional mouth.

Dre Desrochers is our expert in implant placement while Dre Bedkowska Fabre takes care of designing and manufacturing the crown. Do not hesitate to ask them about dental implants.

gum treatment: reduce the impact of the periodontal disease

Periodontics is a combination of treatments to remove tartar and plaque that directly threaten your teeth and gums, but also have a negative impact on your overall health.

Periodontal disease (bacterial infection of the gums) is an aggravating factor in cases of respiratory infection, cerebral embolism and heart disorders in particular.

The periodic examination of gingival tissue makes it possible to monitor the evolution of your gum health. Our team of hygienists will provide you with the preventive and curative periodontal treatments your condition requires.

When necessary, we have implemented a structured periodontal treatment protocol to help you regain control of your gum health.

Quand c'est nécessaire, notre protocole structuré de traitement parodontal peut vous aider à reprendre le contrôle de la santé de vos gencives. This type of care requires more frequent hygiene visits in order to remove plaque and tartar more regularly and prevent the progression of the disease.

In more advanced cases, when the bone is threatened and your teeth may become mobile, our dentists will take over to provide you with periodontal surgery.

endodontics

treat a tooth with an diseased pulp

root canal treatment: treat a tooth whose pulp is compromised in order to keep it

Endodontics includes all treatments of the pulp of your teeth such as root canal treatment, for example. This type of intervention, when performed in time, can prolong the "life" of a tooth, otherwise in good condition, but with a sick pulp.

Root canal treatment consists of removing the pulp and filling the canals in order to block the access to bacteria. To perform these procedures in the most complex cases, we have an endodontic microscope to visualize the canals with extreme precision. A devitalized (pulped) but structurally sound tooth can continue to function for many years. Timely root canal treatment prevents the complete loss of the affected tooth.

This is why we ask you to contact us as soon as possible when your teeth become sensitive to heat and/or cold, or to touch. These symptoms are often signs of deep cavities that threaten the pulp of your teeth and must be treated without delay.

well, they're not so wise as it turns out

removing your wisdom teeth: it's wise!

Wisdom teeth are the last four teeth to come out in our mouth... when they come out at all! It is not uncommon for these teeth to remain in the jawbone all our lives or for only some of them to show the tip of their nose. The evolution of our way of life and our diet over the centuries have rendered them useless: they are a legacy of distant ancestors.

But even if they are invisible or partially erupted, they can cause problems by pushing on adjacent teeth or by facilitating the entry of bacteria into the gums (see gum care). Digital panoramic x-rays allow us to see how they behave and to advise you what is the best course of action with your wisdom teeth.

To analyze the situation, digital panoramic x-rays allow us to see how your wisdom teeth are behaving and to give you the best possible advice.

In case of problems, we proceed to their extraction, which is a simple and fast procedure in most cases.

dental care for your children, young and old

detnal care for all the family from 2 to 102

We offer full dental care for the whole family: for children and adults from 2 to 102 years old! In particular, we adapt our approach to the age and emotional state of our little patients when they visit us. We understand their apprehension: after all, some of us were afraid to go to the dentist when they were little too (we won't tell you who!)

From the age of 2, it is recommended to visit the dentist every year to check the health of the primary teeth and to make sure that they are growing in a way that will allow the proper positioning and spacing of the adult teeth. In addition, we take advantage of these visits to explain good oral hygiene techniques to our little ones... and to their big brothers and sisters too, when necessary!

At each visit we also look for the beginnings of cavities on the primary teeth in order to solve this problem as soon as possible and prevent the permanent teeth from being affected.

When a filling is necessary, we do not use amalgams, but only composite materials that do not contain mercury and are more gentle on the teeth: they require less material removal than traditional amalgams.

destroy cavities with a targeted intervention

find invisible cavities with a special laser and treat them as soon as possible

During your regular cleaning, we perform early identification of cavities with a laser detection tool that can spot cavities that are hidden, invisible to the naked eye, or that cannot be detected with manual instruments.

When treated in the early stages of its development, decay has not yet had time to attack a large area of the tooth both on the surface and in depth. This means that the area to be treated and restored is smaller than with "traditional" restorations, which minimizes our intervention and preserves the natural structure of your tooth.

There are many advantages of this form of preventive restoration:

  • fast and light treatments,
  • long lasting restoration,
  • strenghtening of your teeth ,
  • in some cases, it does not require local anesthesia.

Dr. Eva Fabre and Melissa Lepage are our experts in microdentistry, do not hesitate to talk to them about it during your next visit.

to get the confidence back in your smile

Cosmetic dentistry includes dental care that aims to correct certain defects in your smile (stains, damaged or missing teeth, spaced or overlapping teeth, gums too large...).

The goal is to restore your confidence in your smile and make it brighter. Dr. Fabre is our expert in this field. She will take the time to understand your goals and will advise you on smile reconstruction. Various types of coordinated treatments can be involved in a smile makeover:

  • tooth whitening with a gel placed in a custom-made tray, which faithfully follows the contour of your teeth,
  • mild orthodontics treatment if a realignment of your teeth is required,
  • thin porcelain veneers on your incisors to "repair" your smile, masking the defects of your damaged, stained or misaligned teeth,
  • crowns, when a tooth is too damaged and possibly implants when it is missing...

tooth whitening

for a sparkling healthy smile!

Tooth whitening consists in restoring your teeth' brightness and whiteness. Indeed, tooth enamel stains with use. Products such as coffee, tea, tobacco and many others cause tarnishing over time: the enamel can then turn a yellowish tint.

To restore your teeth to their former glory, several whitening techniques exist. The ones that we believe generally give the best results are whitening at the dental clinic and home whitening using a tailored tray that moulds your teeth and in which you apply a whitening gel. These two approaches can be combined.

Our team of hygienists will be happy to advise you on tooth whitening.

dental surgery

give back its strength to your mouth

dental surgery

Oral surgery covers tooth extractions (including wisdom teeth), bone and gum grafts, pocket reduction and crown lengthening (periodontal surgery). Implant placement also falls into this category.

A bone graft may be necessary to strengthen your jawbone for implant placement, for example, so that the bone structure provides a sufficiently strong foundation for your teeth. Gum grafting restores natural protection to one or more teeth that are loose and reveal part of their root.

Pocket reduction is used to treat periodontal disease and eliminate subgingival areas where tartar and bacteria accumulate. Finally, crown elongation is an operation that removes some gum tissue. This may be necessary to treat a cavity hidden by the gums. This can also be for aesthetic reasons, in order to rebalance your smile when the gums cover too much of your teeth.

This type of intervention is planned with care and coordination between the dentists of the clinic and the hygiene department.

fixed dental prosthesis: dentures

One or more missing teeth can cause all sorts of problems: difficulty chewing on one side of the mouth, food that gets stuck between the teeth and creates gum infections, displacement of adjacent and antagonistic teeth, headaches or neck pain, facial deformation, difficulty smiling...

When a crown (on an implant) or a bridge (resting on adjacent teeth) is not an option, an alternative solution is to fabricate and install a removable prosthesis (partial or complete denture) in place of the missing teeth.

The treatment is performed in several stages and aims first to remove, if necessary, any remaining pieces of tooth and to ensure the proper healing of the tissues around and on the sites of the missing teeth. During this healing period, a temporary denture is placed and an impression is made for the permanent denture.

Dr. Gisèle Lajoie is our expert in dentures. She will be happy to advise you on the best solution to meet your needs.

night guards
(occlusal plates)

night guards - dental occlusal plates

protect your teeth and balance your bite

Wearing an occlusal plate at night helps to distribute the forces exerted by the jaws when we clench our teeth while sleeping. By acting as a shock absorber and guiding our jaw movements, the bite plate reduces premature wear of our teeth when we grind or clench them too hard during the night.

It also relieves muscular tension in the jaw and neck joints. It also helps control mild to moderate sleep apnea by repositioning the lower jaw to clear the airway.

Our occlusal plates are custom made in order to give you the best comfort.

maxilary arch expansion: making room for adult teeth

Our teeth need space to grow and develop properly. Sometimes our palate is too narrow to allow this. This can result in overlapping teeth, malocclusions (poor positioning of the upper and lower teeth), breathing difficulties, deviation of the mandible, pronunciation difficulties...

The palate of a child, before the age of 14-15, is flexible enough to easily correct this problem. There is a bony suture dividing the upper jaw which is not yet completely closed before this age and which can therefore be opened gradually and painlessly with the help of an appliance which is glued to the palate and rests on the teeth. This treatment takes place over a period of several months in order to stabilize the expansion obtained.

Palatal expansion, when recommended, should therefore be performed as early as possible in a child's life, once the problem has been diagnosed, so that the permanent teeth can grow in under the best conditions and to avoid more extensive orthodontic work later on.

gently align your teeth
for your best smile

Clear aligners are a discreet solution that is becoming increasingly popular and the preferred orthodontic treatment to give you your best smile. A typical treatment consists of four phases:

  • Analysis of your smile and teeth using our imaging and digital radiography tools to determine if this treatment is appropriate for you;
  • In the planning phase your dentist will prepare the steps of the orthodontic treatment plan using digital simulation to show the movements of your teeth at each step of the treatment;
  • In the next phase you will be wearing the custom-made clear aligners in a pre-determined order and for a specific duration. Follow-up appointments are scheduled at the clinic to ensure that the treatment is progressing as planned;
  • Once the desired alignment is obtained, retention aligners will be made in order to allow you to maintain the alignment of your teeth. Follow-up appointments will also be scheduled.

The main advantages of this orthodontic technique over the traditional approach with braces are better comfort, greater discretion, the possibility of easily removing and replacing the aligner and also that you will be able to maintain an optimal dental hygiene during the entire treatment.

improve healing after
a dental surgery

la fibrine riche en plaquettes pour favoriser la guérison après une chirurgie dentaire

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) helps the healing process following dental surgery (tooth extraction, implant placement, etc.). Obtained from a blood sample taken before the beginning of the dental surgery, fibrin will be deposited on the site of the operation to promote healing, while reducing pain and swelling. In the case of an implant, fibrin will also promote osseointegration and thus strengthen the implant.

The PRF is obtained by taking a blood sample of a few milliliters, similar to the blood sample taken for a conventional medical examination. The test tube containing the sample is then processed in a centrifugeuse for several minutes to separate the cell-free plasma. It is yellow in color and represents a little more than half of the volume collected. It can then be collected and inserted into the surgery area.

The technology that makes possible your dental care

We have a state-of-the-art toolbox and we are always on the lookout for new techniques that can allow us to:

  • to offer you a stress-free dental care experience with conscious sedation and pain-free anesthesia,
  • make better, earlier and more accurate diagnoses,
  • provide you with better care and as much comfort as possible,
  • ensure the asepsis of our equipment and prevent cross-contamination and
  • access your dental records quickly and easily.
  • to offer you, in fine, a stress-free dental care experience with, among other things, conscious sedation and painless anesthesia,

conscious sedation

Conscious sedation is a way to reduce anxiety about dental care and gives us the opportunity to perform better quality care. Nitrous oxide, which is administered through a nasal respirator, acts as a sedative and relaxant that decreases the general state of anxiety. The patient remains conscious and retains the ability to respond to physical and verbal stimuli. The effects of the sedation are felt after a few minutes of inhalation and dissipate completely within 5 minutes of stopping.

Available for patients as young as 5 years old, it has many advantages, including:

  • the intensity of the sedation is easily modulated,
  • complete recovery is achieved within minutes and there is no need for a ride home after your dental work,
  • the reduction of stress can be an important positive factor for patients with particular medical conditions (angina, heart attack...),
  • the gag reflex disappears, which allows the dentist to work more quickly and accurately.

your crowns in one appointment

We design, manufacture and install crowns, inlays and veneers in one appointment using Primescan (CEREC) technology. These restorations generally help preserve the natural structure and strength of your teeth.

The treatment is accomplished in several steps (image acquisition, modeling, design, machining, placement, and finishing). Your mouth will first be photographed and a faithful model will be automatically created by a computer design program. This model is used to establish the morphology of the restoration so that it fits perfectly into its environment.

Your dentist uses the computer-aided design software and its expert modules to design the restoration and refine its morphology before sending it to the machining room, which is responsible for creating it from a special ceramic block.

Once the machining is completed, the restoration is fired in a special oven that gives it a very high resistance and a natural color.

measuring the strength of your bite

Innobyte, developed by Kube Innovation in Quebec, is a device dedicated to answering a very simple question, but one that is of great importance in determining the best treatment for a patient: how hard do we press our teeth together?

Alone or combined with other pathologies, the pressure we put on our teeth, when it is too high, can have harmful consequences: increased risk of breakage, excessive wear, bruxism, pain in the jaw joint (TMJ)...

Being able to accurately determine this force allows us to better identify the treatments that are appropriate for your mouth, as well as the materials that will offer the best resistance according to your needs.

EzDam for a tidier and more secure treatment area

The EZ DAM system allows us to treat you more effectively by combining several functions around the area of treatment. Made of a comfortable, non-allergenic material, it fits in the mouth to provide easy access to the treatment site.

It does this by retracting the tongue and cheeks (no need for cotton rolls), acting as a throat pouch, giving you a solid support for biting during treatment and serving as an attachment point for the high-flow suction system.

This allows us to work with better visibility and access to the area to be treated, thus providing you with a more comfortable and safer dental experience. By integrating the high flow suction system, it eliminates the need for the dentist and assistant to focus on the suction and direct all their attention to the procedure at hand.

The Diagnodent is a non-invasive and painless laser detection technology: it scans your teeth and emits a sound when it finds a cavity, including those that are not visible to the naked eye or cannot be found with an oral explorer.

It detects cavities shortly after they have formed that conventional research methods such as the curette or visual inspection (with or without intra-oral photography) do not show. It can also find cavities hidden inside a tooth.

The diagnodent therefore allows us to identify cavities earlier, before they have eaten away more of the tooth. This allows us to intervene earlier in the process and preserve more of the affected tooth with more limited restorations.

Once a cavity is identified, this technique allows us to limit the area of intervention. Micro air abrasion is a natural complement to laser cavity detection.

The end result is a painless procedure (no anesthesia required in some cases), less material removed to eliminate the cavity, and therefore a stronger tooth, longer.

The surgical microscope allows them to visually explore the interior of canals and to position their tools with great precision thanks to the high magnification (from 4 to 21 times) and the spotlight on the area to be treated.

The phase contrast microscope is used for periodontal examinations. After taking a saliva sample from your teeth, it is possible to visualize the bacteria present in the dental plaque and their density.
